Built by experience.
Driven by purpose.

The Grizzy Veteran isn't a rank — it's a mindset. For anyone still on the grind. Still serving. Still showing up when the day gets hard.

Honor the Past.

The uniform came off. The mission didn't.

Build the Future.

Discipline over motivation. Every day.

Work While They Rest.

From the Founder

A note from Eric.

The Grizzy Veteran isn’t an apparel company. It’s a platform — built to remind veterans, first responders, and anyone else grinding through a hard day that they are not alone, that the work still matters, and that showing up is the whole job.

The mission is simple. Give people something to hold onto when the day is heavy. Tell the legacy stories that got buried. And push each other to get off the couch and into the community — volunteer, mentor, coach, check on a neighbor, run for the school board. Motivation without action is just noise.

The apparel, the journal, the book, the Creed Wall — those are the ways we carry the message. But the message is the point: the mission is never done, and neither are you. If something here helps you show up tomorrow, do the same for somebody else.

Field Notes

The day I stopped waiting to feel like it.

There was a stretch after I retired where I would wake up and just sit on the edge of the bed. Not depressed exactly. Not fine either.

The Six Triple Eight and the mountain of mail.

855 Black women. Seventeen million pieces of undelivered mail. Six months to fix it. They finished in three. Here's how the mountain moves.

Resilience Files

How to keep a ritual alive on a broken day.

Every ritual dies the same way — the day it collides with real life and you decide you'll pick it back up tomorrow. Here's how to keep the string unbroken.

The Creed Wall

Everybody keeps going for a reason.

The Creed isn't just a manifesto on the wall. It's the reason you got up today. Add yours. Anonymous is fine. It joins the wall.

Finish the sentence.

I keep going because

“I would rather die in the ranks of my own colored comrades than live and let them be sacrificed.”

Sgt. William H. Carney · 54th Massachusetts

“My country and my flag before myself.”

Eugene Bullard · First African-American Combat Pilot

“Every day when you wake up, you can keep going or you can stop. That's the whole choice. Keep going.”

About the founder

Eric Fikes. U.S. Army, Retired.

Twenty-plus years in the uniform. I didn’t hang it up so I could sit down. I hung it up so I could keep doing the work in a different set of clothes.

What I do now is the daily grind of trying to inspire, coach, mold, and mentor — through hard work, discipline, and the refusal to coast. If you’re still breathing, you still have a mission. The only question is whether you’re going to find the next one or wait for it to find you first.

I built The Grizzy Veteran for the ones who already know the answer. Veterans. First responders. Anybody grinding through a hard chapter and looking around for a reason to keep moving. Consider this the reason. Now go find the next mission.
